The Wray EMS department consists of a combination of paid, part time, and volunteer Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s), Paramedics and Registered Nurses. These people are caring individuals who are dedicated to serving the community.

Wray EMS provides primary 911 services to approximately 1,000 square miles of eastern Yuma County, CO along with mutual aid to western Dundy County, Nebraska. Wray EMS also provides a crucial link to specialized care at large front range medical centers by the way of Basic, Advanced and Critical Care inter-hospital transport. These patients originate at the local hospitals and are transferred to tertiary centers in Denver, Loveland, Greeley, Ft. Collins or North Platte, NE. Wray EMS responds to 400-500 calls annually.

Call 911 for emergency response. For non-emergent or inter-hospital transports please contact our communications center at 970.848.0464, they will page the on call supervisor to call you as soon as possible to arrange the transport.

Wray EMS currently has a fleet of 3 ambulances, all of which are advanced life support units licensed by Yuma County. The ambulances are equipped with lifesaving devices that enable the EMT’s and Paramedics to care of any type of sick or injured person.

National EMS Week is May 15-21st and this year’s theme is “EMS STRONG: Called to Care”. EMS Strong will make EMS week a 365-day a year initiative to give EMS a significantly greater visibility among other health professions and communities. Putting EMS squarely where it belongs; as an indispensable part of the healthcare continuum. While National EMS Week will be an integral part of the campaign, EMS Strong will become the vehicle to drive awareness, interest and excitement about the profession year-round.

Wednesday, May 18th is Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day. Be sure to look for activities sponsored by Wray EMS during this time.
